Saturday’s ACC title bout will be SMU’s third straight postseason matchup that will feel like an away game. It played on the road at Tulane when it captured the American Athletic Conference title in a 26-14 win this week last year. It also played at Fenway Park against Boston College in its bowl game.

For the second season in a row, head coach Rhett Lashlee has the SMU Mustangs playing in a conference championship game. The only major difference is that in 2023 that was the AAC Championship and this season it will be the ACC Championship.

The 2024 ACC Championship Game will pit Clemson against SMU on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Charlotte. With both teams entering Week 14 inside the top 12 of the most recent CFP Rankings, the winner is almost assured one of the automatic bids to the College Football Playoff,
