On Sunday, the Mets signed Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract which can become $805 million should the team exercise a clause to void his Year 5 opt-out clause. Their closest competitor, the Yankees, offered him $760 million over 16 years, per reports, just $5 million less than the Mets.
