U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to announce a ceasefire between Lebanon's Hezbollah and Israel within 36 hours under existing plans, four senior Lebanese sources said on Monday.

Israel and Hezbollah inched closer to signing a cease-fire deal that may be concluded in the coming days, according to officials and people familiar with the matter, even as the two sides continued to fire artillery and rockets at each other.

The Israeli ambassador to Washington says that a ceasefire deal to end fighting between Israel and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah could be reached “within days.”
