The San Antonio Spurs’ hopes of advancing in the second annual NBA Cup came to an end as they were officially eliminated following the conclusion of group play against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. Despite valiant efforts throughout the tournament, the Spurs fell short of securing a quarterfinal knockout round berth.

After failing to advance to the knockout rounds of the NBA Cup, the Minnesota Timberwolves have had two games added to their schedule next week to fill the gaps that were left open while the results of the in-season tournament were pending.

More West wild card: The Mavericks are in the best position to win the wild card, as long as they beat the Grizzlies. If they beat Memphis and the Spurs beat Phoenix, then the Thunder would have to beat Utah by at least 25 points, depending on how much Dallas wins by.
