Jaishankar said that since August 2024, the government has seen several reports of incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities.

Jaishankar pointed out that reports of violence against Hindus and other minorities, especially during the Durga Puja festival, had been a cause for concern.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar expressed serious concern over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. During the August 2024 incidents, Hindu homes, businesses, and temples were targeted. Increased violence is noted amid Bangladesh's political instability.

This comes amid there has been a rise in violent activities against minorities in Bangladesh, including Hindus.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called upon the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government in Bangladesh to live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities.
