Britain has blacklisted a so-called shadow fleet of oil tankers that London said Russia uses to transport billions of dollars' worth of oil and oil products a year.

The UK government expanded its sanctions against Russia’s energy industry on Monday, blacklisting dozens of tankers responsible for moving the nation’s oil as well as two insurers involved in the trade.

The government made the announcement on Nov. 25. The sanctions aim to limit the Kremlin's ability to finance the war against Ukraine and other malicious activities worldwide. A total of 73 Russian oil tankers are now under UK sanctions,

A Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s central Kaluga region ignited fires at an oil depot and a weapons storage facility. The region's governor, Vladislav Shapsha, confirmed that the fire broke out at an industrial site but was eventually brought under control by firefighters.
