A mammoth rape trial in France is moving into a new phase with prosecutors setting out the verdicts and punishments they want for 51 men men accused of raping Gisèle Pelicot while she was drugged and rendered unconscious by her husband.

Gisele Pelicot, whose husband Dominique Pelicot and 50 other men are on trial for raping her, gave her final courtroom statement in the shocking case.

The prosecution requested a 20-year prison sentence for Dominique Pelicot and a minimum of 10 years for the initial list of men accused of rape. The prosecution's requests will continue, on Tuesday, for 30 more of them.

Gisele Pelicot on Tuesday lambasted the cowardice of the dozens of men accused of abusing her during 10 years of mass rape organized by her husband and told the court hearing the trial France’s patriarchal society must change.

Both sons of Gisèle and Dominique Pelicot called for tough sentences for their father and the other men accused of drugging and raping their mother.

Gisele Pelicot appeared in court for more that two months. This is due to the video shot by her husband was played before the court.
