Prosecutors have told the International Criminal Court that they are confident that two alleged leaders of a predominantly Christian rebel group in the Central African Republic are guilty of multiple counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

After many weeks of preparation, the voter registration exercise finally started at the close of last month in Bangui and other provinces of the country.

Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court asked judges on Monday to find two men accused of leading Christian-dominated militias in attacks on Muslims in Central African Republic in 2013 and 2014 guilty of all the charges against them.

The case of two men facing dozens of counts of murder, torture and the destruction of religious sites opened three years ago.
