Sayan Ghosh, a tourist hailing from Belghoria, West Bengal, was allegedly assaulted in Bangladesh 's Dhaka, according to a report by News18. The incident occurred when Ghosh and his friend went to a local market.

A 21-year-old Indian tourist Sayan Ghosh was allegedly attacked by a violent mob for both his Indian identity and his Hindu faith in Dhaka. He was reportedly assaulted with a knife and stones and was denied medical treatment in some private hospitals.

India has expressed "deep concern" over the arrest of a Hindu monk in Bangladesh and asked its neighbour to "ensure the safety of Hindus and all minorities".

India on Friday said the interim government in Bangladesh must live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities as it expressed serious concern over the "surge" of extremist rhetoric and increasing incidents of violence against Hindus as well as attacks on temples.
