Shiv Sena MP Srikant Shinde, the son of Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, on Monday said the speculations about him getting the deputy CM’s post in the new state government were false and baseless.

The deadlock over finalising the next Maharashtra Chief Minister dragged on as caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde cancelled his meetings today as he's unwell, while NCP leader Ajit Pawar headed to Delhi to meet with top BJP leadership over government formation.

Mumbai: A day after BJP's Devendra Fadnavis ' name has been finalised for the Maharashtra Chief Minister's post, Eknath Shinde has cancelled all the meetings today. The suspense over Maharashtra CM face continues as official announcement regarding the same.

According to reports, Shinde was scheduled to attend a Mahayuti leaders meeting to finalise portfolio allocations. He is suffering from a throat infection and fever and did not return to his official residence, Varsha, in Mumbai. Shinde is currently staying in his native village in Satara.

The announcement will be made ahead of the oath ceremony.” The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) on Sunday named MLA Jitendra Awhad as its group leader in the Maharashtra legislative assembly.
