According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 30.7 square miles, of which 30.4 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles, or 0.91%, is water. The township is located in northern York County in south-central Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna River forms the eastern border of the township, and the western part of the township entirely surrounds the borough of Lewisberry.
